Theoretical Foundation of Ring Die Feed Pellet Mill

Pelleting process actually occurs when the feed materials are pressed between the ring die and the rolls. The mash materials under high pressure bring about mechanical interlocking and increased adhesion between the materials to form inter-molecular bonds in the contact area. The binding mechanisms under high pressure can be divided into adhesion and cohesion forces, attractive forces between solid particles, and interlocking bonds. Another important binding mechanism is van der waals’ forces. They are prominent at extremely short distance between the adhesion partners. To obtain this type of bond, compression and shear forces must always act on the system. The strength of the resulting agglomerate depends only the type of interaction e material characteristics.

Main Structures of Commercial Ring Die Feed Pellet Machine

The chief function of feeding system is to control material feeding rate precisely. The feeding rate controls the amount of raw material that passes through the pelleting equipment. By setting the proper feeding speed of the feeder, the allowable motor load on the pellet mill may be approached but not exceeded.
The chief functions of conditioning system is the vessel in which the dry mash materials and steam are blended together to make a wet mash mix to be transported to the pelletizing system for making feed pellets. The conditioning system is an enclosed continuous mixing chamber with paddles to mix the dry mash and added steam and any other added liquids at that point. It has two functions, first to fully blend the materials and liquids, and second to be long enough and large enough to provide the desired time for that function to fully occur and the mash heated to a desired level before entering the pellet mill die.
The transmission system provides kinetic energy.
The primary purpose of the overload protection system is to prevent damage to the pellet mill in the occurrence of an overload.

Tips on Installation of Ring Die Feed Pellet Machinery

When preparing to install ring die feed pellet mill in animal feed pellet plant, you shall meet the following conditions. There should be enough space to install the ring die feed pellet machine, steam systems and other auxiliary equipment. Room must be provided on all sides to allow a full 180-degree swing when opening the die housing door. This is required in order to exchange dies. The area at the other end where the motor cooling fan is located must also be free of obstructions to allow air to enter the fan.
